Bishop Morehead is the organizer of Shalom Ministries Christian Center in Fort Washington, MD, where she serves as Senior Pastor. She grew up in Arkansas; the daughter of sharecroppers, and worked in the cotton fields there. On this journey called “life,” she has faced many challenges and struggles, but through it all has experienced Jesus as Savior, Healer, and Deliverer.
She has two adult daughters, Erika and Sonya, a precious granddaughter, Iyanna, and several godchildren.
Under Pastor Morehead’s leadership, Shalom (the City of Peace) has come to be known as the place where people come for salvation, transformation, healing, wholeness, hope and deliverance; through celebrative worship, powerful teaching and preaching, and fellowship in a family environment. Shalom has a Kingdom assignment to empower people and advance the Kingdom of God one life at a time through personal and social evangelism. Over the years God has shown Himself faithful by showering the ministry with favor. Since February 1998, hundreds of persons have been saved and lives transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit.
She is the CEO of COPE (City of Peace Enterprises, Inc.) a community development corporation. The COPE Center houses programs such as Kingdom Kids Academy (Pre-school, Before & After School, & Summer Camp); H.Y.P.E (Helping Youth & Parents Excel); P.A.P. (Parents As Partners); and other initiatives to help transform the community.
Bishop Morehead is also founder and CEO of FTMorehead Ministries, LLC. She serves as Overseer of the Mid-Atlantic District of the Mount Calvary Holy Church of America where her spiritual father, Archbishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr., is the presiding prelate and Co-Pastor Susie Owens is the International First Lady. Dr. Morehead serves on the Board of Project Bridges, and is a former Board Member and Vice President of the Collective Empowerment Group. She is a preacher, teacher, revivalist, life coach, workshop facilitator, and the acclaimed author of “Embracing the Desperate Moments of Life” – a must read.
She has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science degree in Chemistry, a Masters of Divinity, a Doctorate of Ministry, and has served as an adjunct professor.
Bishop Morehead is a firm believer that lives are transformed as minds are renewed through the Word of God; and holds fast to her personal declaration, “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
